Best time to visit Morocco

Morocco is a destination that can be visited all year round, but each season offers a different experience. From the mild temperatures of spring to the starry nights of winter, at TILILA TOURS we help you choose the perfect time for your adventure.

Spring (March to May): the star season

Spring is, without doubt, the best time to visit Morocco. The climate is mild, nature blooms and the days are long and sunny.

• Climate: between 20 °C and 30 °C during the day, cool but pleasant nights.
• Desert: perfect temperatures for the camel ride and for sleeping outdoors.
• Cities: Marrakech and Fez are very pleasant to walk around without the scorching heat of summer.
• Festivals: Marrakech International Film Festival (sometimes November-December; check the current edition) and local celebrations in the Berber villages.

Our recommendation: book at least 2-3 weeks in advance, as it's high season.

Summer (June to August): for heat lovers

Summer in Morocco is intense. Temperatures in the desert can exceed 45 °C in the shade, and the heat in the cities is stifling.

• Climate: very hot during the day, warm nights.
• Desert: only recommended if you choose a camp with air conditioning and avoid the middle hours of the day.
• Advantages: fewer tourists, lower prices on hotels and flights.
• Tip: if you travel in summer, plan activities early in the morning and at sunset. Rest during the hottest hours.

Autumn (September to November): the return of good weather

Autumn is another of the best times, almost on a par with spring. The summer heat eases and the country is once again a comfortable place to explore.

• Climate: similar to spring, with sunny days and cool nights.
• Desert: ideal for camping, with clear skies and perfect temperatures.
• Date harvest: in October and November the harvest is celebrated in the palm groves. It's a unique cultural experience.
• Festivals: Essaouira Gnawa Music Festival (June, although sometimes it edges towards summer; check dates).

Winter (December to February): tranquillity and magical nights

Winter is the quietest season, but it has a special charm. If you don't mind the night-time cold, you can enjoy the desert with an intimacy you won't find at other times of year.

• Climate: mild days (15-20 °C), cold nights that can drop below 5 °C in the desert.
• Desert: warm clothing is essential. Luxury camps have blankets and heaters.
• Mountains: if you like skiing, the Oukaïmeden and Michlifen resorts are near Marrakech.
• Prices: the lowest of the year on accommodation and tours.
